A Look Inside a Villa Retreat

By February 6, 2018

Ever wonder what it might be like to host a wellness retreat or attend as a guest? We have many wonderful retreats and instructors visiting us this year. We’ve already hosted a pilates retreat, a yoga retreat and this week, we are hosting Tosca Reno’s Clean Living retreat. Soon, with the completion of our new wellness center, we’ll have even more space to host instructors and guests.

Recently, Jean Marie hosted a yoga retreat at the villa. While daily yoga practice was the focus of the retreat, guests were also able to truly experience Costa Rica’s beauty and culture. Read on to see what activities and adventures they enjoyed each day.

Day One: Guests received a warm welcome from our staff who served  fresh coconuts that guests enjoyed while touring the villa and getting settled. The afternoon was theirs to enjoy, some took a dip in the pool, others enjoyed a siesta on our balconies. After dinner, guests wound down with a yin yoga class by candlelight.

Day Two: Upon waking, guests were served a healthy breakfast that gave them the energy to hike Pez Vela with Diego, our house manager. Here they had the opportunity to meditate and relax in the natural surroundings. At the end of the hike, guests made their way to Ocotal beach for a serene yoga session. The sun, sand and sound of the waves made for a perfect atmosphere. After a busy morning, guests enjoyed massages in our on site spa and after learned to make a delicious ceviche from Chef Alberto! The afternoon ended with yoga on the front lawn and the rest of the evening was free to relax and enjoy.

Day Three: It’s was an early morning, but that’s best in order take advantage of the calm ocean. Guests tried their skill at stand up paddle boarding and yoga – together! After what was an intense, skill stretching workout, guests were able to stretch and relax on the beach. Then everyone headed back to the villa for a delicious typical Costa Rican breakfast of “gallo pinto,” eggs, plantains, fried cheese, avocado, fresh fruit and juices!  After breakfast, it was time to visit Coco, a perfect place to be surrounded by Costa Rican culture and meet local artisans practicing their crafts. After the trip into town, it was time for another yoga session in the lawn and then an evening with cocktails and dinner al fresco!

Day Four: It’s was beautiful morning for our daily flow and a few hours of rest. After lunch, guests took in the sun and waves on a catamaran snorkeling cruise! Just before dark, they arrived home to one last dinner from Chef Alberto. He pulled out all the stops and prepared a fresh mahi mahi fish dinner.  To end a perfect retreat, guests practiced yoga by a candlelight under the full moon.
